Assuming the resistance follows a normal distribution and can be measures to any degree of accuracy, what percentage of resistors will have a resistance exceeding 66 ohms. Find P(X > 66) Find P)X > 66) using continuity correction factor. Be sure to use the continuity factor on the criterion of 66 ohms. Then add to the calculation the continuity correction Factor for the mean of 60 ohms. And Finally use the continuity correction Factor on the standard deviation of 4 ohms.Explanation / Answer
1)P(X>66) =P(Z>(66-60)/4) =P(Z>1.5)=0.0668
2) P(X>66) =P(X>=66.5)=P(Z>(66.5-60)/4) =P(Z>1.625)=0.0521
