Question

A team of computer engineers is interested in determining if the percentage of disk space that is used from virtual memory will significantly improves the response time of a server. The team measured the response time in milliseconds when 2, 4, 6 & 8% of the server disk's space is used for virtual memory. The results of the experiment are as follows. a. Does the percentage of server allocated to memory changed the response time of the server at the 0.05 level of significance? An article describes a field test for detecting the presence of arsenic urine samples. The test has been proposed for among forestry workers because of the increasing use of organic arsenics in industry. The experiment compared the test as performed by both a trainee and experienced trainer to an analysis at a remote laboratory. Four subjects were selected testing and are considered as blocks. The response variable is arsenic content (in ppm) in the subject's urine. The data are as follows a. Is there any difference in the arsenic test procedure? An article presents the following 2^2 factorial experiment. The that is presented as follows a. Construct a factorial experiment design table that include the interactions between the factors b. Calculate contrast for each factor c. Create an ANOVA table d. Test each factor and interactions to conclude if there is effect in the process

Explanation / Answer

3.

We want to test
H0: 1 = 2 = 3
ag. H1: at least one of the means is different.

To perform a single factor ANOVA in EXCEL, execute the following steps:

1. On the Data tab, in the Analysis group, click Data Analysis.
If Data Analysis Toolpack is not loaded, go to FILE -> OPTIONS -> ADD-INS -> select ANALYSIS TOOLPACK -> GO -> tick the toolpack box -> OK -> OK.

2. Select Anova: Single Factor and click OK.

3. Click in the Input Range box and select the range where the data is entered.

4. Click in the Output Range box and select new worksheet.

5. Click OK.

RESULTS :

Anova: Single Factor

Since F < F crit, we accept the null hypothesis and conclude that the percentage of disk space used for virtual memory doesn’t affect the response time of a server at 5 % level.
