Select a peer-reviewed, nonexperimental research study that exemplifies a correlational and quasi-experimental design (use keywords method, results, and discussion in your Boolean search). These studies can be found using tools such as the GCU Library and Google Scholar. Write a 500-750-word paper that addresses the following: Compare the research design of the two studies chosen. Were the research designs appropriate to their hypothesis (the goal of the research or research question)? Why or why not? Discuss the limitations of drawing conclusions from a nonexperimental study. Did the study have a random sample? Were there other problems that were noticed?

a)Compare to the research design of the two studies chosen:

The quasi experimental has are classified into three types which are the

1)longitudinalquasi experimental

2)the cross section quasi experiment

3) the sequential quasi longitudinal.

These experimental make it more independent as they are strong in nature. The first difference between correlational and the quasi-experimental is that quasi-experimental involves many groups and an independent variable while the correlational study involves one group and more independent variables.

The second comparison is that quasi experimental research for education tries to identify the experimental relationship between an independent variable and the dependent variable while in correlational the researcher does not have complete control over the independent variable .

Thethird comparison is that quasi experimental studies are being characterized by the ability to randomize subjects into treatment and by controlling the group, while in correlational the randomization goes a long way towards controlling the variables. The last difference between quasi experimental and correlational is that comparing the groups in quasi experimental study are already being formed while in correlational there is no those permanent groups formed.

B)Were the research designs appropriate to their hypothesis?

The research design was not appropriate to their hypothesis. We had dertermine what was the goal and the research questions of the experimental research.

The reasons are, the goal of the research was to make sure we understand the process of integrating type of diabetes treatment recommendations into the current lifestyle. The research question to determine the challenges integrating diabetes treatment recommendations and also to determine the process that adults go through as they attempt to integrate diabetes.

The goal or the target of this experimental research was to come up with those methods to curb diabetes. We were also to determine the different types of the diabetes so as to know the appropriate treatment.

C) Limitations of conculsion from non experimental study:

The limitation that I can draw from a non experimental study is that many researchers do not put required or more effort into exploring extant literature. This make them not get the goal of their respective research. This is because they are mainly easy to conduct, therefore what has been already done to the subject and often conduct non-experimental research. What I can add is that all the non experimental designs most of the time suffer from common method bias, specifically variables and single source bias as it easy to collect the both independent and dependent variables from the same view.

These method prevents the experimental research flow efficiently.

D) Problems were noticed:
There was a risks in coming up with though carrying out this experimental research. The other problems were noticed were the conditions, by nature of the manipulation of a variable, treatment being imbedded in experimental designs, researchers loosing external validity. External validity is concerned with the degree to which experimental conditions mirror the real world today experience. Too much artificial manipulation of a variable in experimental research may make replication of the relationships among variables possible only in a lab.

With no bearing on the real world, some experimental designs are not useful.
