1.) How much is their total revenue for the most recent year reported?

According to the American Diabetes Association’s 2016 Annual report their total revenue from special events, donations, bequests, and fees from exchange transactions was $171 million but they ended 2016 with $191 million in expenditures which resulted in the ADA making a net loss of almost $20 million. (American Diabetes Association 2016 Annual Report, n.d.)

2.) How much of their revenue comes from governmental money?

While reading through their annual financial report, I did not come across any of their revenue coming from governmental money. They have stated where their revenues come from without any mention to federal funding.

3.) What is their percentage of total support that comes from governmental money?

No governmental funding. Though from what I have read on their website the ADA is working towards federal funding for research and programs. They have made a call to Congress and the Administration to increase funding for diabetes research at National Institutes of Health and diabetes treatment and prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (Funding for Research and Programs, n.d.)

4.) Comment on whether these numbers are more or less than what you expected to find. ????

Explanation / Answer

For the country like United States of America and regarding its overall size this number looks really small. As compared to the other funds available for different diseases this funding is relatively low and it seems lesser than the overall expected funds which should be involved in the betterment of the American diabetes Association.
