Fill out the answer sheet provided but SHOW WORK Do not round untlil the final answers San Antonio MultiComm Services (SAMS) provides high quality communications networks in the Greater San Antonio area. SAMS offers subscription-based services for digital cable video programming, local and long-distance telephone services and high speed internet access Recentiy, SAMIS is facing competition from other network providers that have expanded in the San Antonio Area. Part : Continuing its monitoring of the upload speed the technical operations department wants to ensure that the mean target upload speed for all Internet service subscribers is at least 0.97 on a standard scale in which the target values is 1.0. Each day, upload speed was measured 50 times, with the following results. [see Excel spreadsheet "Data from upload speeds measured 50 times"] 1) 1 Test with a significance of 0.05 whether there is evidence that the population mean upload speed is less than 0.97. Be sure to show all 8 steps and report p-value as well. (40 points) Part II: SAMS communicates with customers who subscribe to cable television services through a specia secured email system that sends messages about service changes, new features, and billing information to in- home digital set-top boxes for later display. To enhance customer service, the operations department established the business objective of reducing the amount of time to fully update each subscriber's set of messages. The department selected two candidate messaging systems and conducted an experiment in which 30 randomly chosen cable subscribers were assigned one of the two systems (15 assigned to each system). Update times were measured [see Excel spreadsheet *Data from 30 subscribers (15 to each system) email interface"]. Test whether the variances are equal in the two groups using 0.05 significance. NOTE: Either "correctly estimate with the F table" or use Excel's EINV(alpha/24h numerator, denominator) to get the lower critical value and F.INV.RT(alpha/2, d. numerator denominator to get the upper critical value. (30 points) 2) 3) 3) Suppose now there were only 15 subscribers sampled and the update process for each subscriber email was measured for each of the two messaging systems with the same results in the Excel spreadsheet, making each row in the table a pair or values for an individual subscriber. Reanalyze the data using a paired-sample t test (mean differences). Once again use 0.05 significance. (30 points) Page 1 of 1 English(US) En 411 words 130%Explanation / Answer
Answer to question# 1)
The 50 data values are not clearly visible , but let me share the excel formulae and further steps that may be very helpful.
in cell A51 type the formula:
=average(a1:a50)
and press enter , you will get the mean of all 50 values x bar
.
once you get the x bar value , we can proceed with the calculation of test statistic Z
Z = (x bar - 0.97) / (0.16/sqrt(50))
.
This gives us the Z value
now in order to find the pvalue of this Z , we can make use of excel formula
=normsdist(z)
This will provide us the P value as well
.
For deciding whether to reject the null or not
if Z statistic < -1.645 , it falls in rejection region and we reject the null
else we fail to reject the null
.
Note: if there is any doubt in this regard please feel free to share. If you wish to get the answer verified kindly enlarge the image of the 50 data points and share again , I can share the exact values and the complete accurate working.
