Answer to 1:

Differences between functional and cross functional team:

When people are grouped based on their function like combining engineers with engineers, managers with managers, testers with testers, such groups are called as functional teams. One benefit of this kind of structure is that it helps in achieving efficiency and there will also be learning among the teams.

On the other hand, cross functional system can also be called as a process based system, because these systems integrate activities of entire business process for example a customer order etc.

Circumstance under which each is better choice:

For people working on projects, cross functional teams are better choice. Because even if the people are from different function but work for a particular project, it is necessary for them to communicate among one another which is less required for people are same function but working for different projects. As communication is the most important thing for any business.

The functional organization structure on the other hand is suitable for companies which has continuing operations and is engaged in the production of standard products. This is usually applicable for manufacturing industries.

Organizational culture can be termed as a set of values, beliefs and assumptions that each companies would have and based on which the employees in the organization are expected to act or behave.

It is necessary to have a good organization culture, because it makes the employees to be active and responsible in their actions. It also impacts the norms of the company and also supports its mission, vision and value statements.
