Explanation / Answer
1a)There are 3 types of information (i) Primary (ii) Secondary and (iii) Tertiary information. Before any information can be converted into any kind of a book (textbook, scholarly book or otherwise), we have to consider the data which has been observed by a scientist, who would normally keep a diary or a Journal. Therefore, a Journal (Option d), is a publication which would be considered as the primary source of information.
1b) When we create data, either quantitative (number based) or qualitative (word based), there could be a lot of data which needs to be sorted for analysis. While doing this, we must ensure, as researchers that the data read by any individual is clear and distinguishable. For eg. If I give data as 15,20,25,30, without any heading, it could be inferred as almost anything, but if the table title states that the data is Temperature (o F), we immediately understand what the data pertains to. Hence, The title of a table should be (Option b)- Understandable without having to refer to the text.
