We decide to exclude the transgender nurses because it might be the case that personal bias might creep into their responses. Since, they are the ones who will be facing the discrimination it might be so that their responses will be overzealous and might skew the data. The other respondents on the other hand might give a third person perspective of the scenario as they might not be the ones facing the discrimination but might notice it around them and thus will give non-personal unbiased response. This might also help to analyse the attitude of others towards the discrimination and help analyse the situation better.
It might also skew the data a little bit as there is a good chance that the respondents might not realise how the situation with discrimination manifests itself in healthcare encounters at all as they are not the ones facing it. They might give highly optimistic answers which might not be in accordance with the actual situation.
Since, the study is aimed to find out how stigma and discrimination manifests itself in healthcare encounters it is important that we include the transgender nurses as well because they might be the one who will be facing gender discrimination in the first place to reduce the skewness of the responses. Moreover, in the reports it is stated that a personal connection has been found between the discrimination and the transgender. Hence, from a statistical point of view it is important to have a representative sample of responses which in turn makes is important to include the responses of the transgender nurses.
