previous l 4 of 15 l next Problem 12.12 Copy Humans contain a haploid genome consisting of 3x109 bp. Each group of 200 bp of DNA is combined with 9 histones into a nucleosome. Each group of 6 nucleosomes is combined into a solenoid, achieving a final packing ratio of 50 previous 4 of 15 next Part A What is the total number of nucleosomes in all fibers in a diploid cell state? Enter your answer as coefficient 10 exponent (e.g., 2* 10 3) AE Submit My Answers Give Up incorrect; one attempt remaining; Try Again Part B What is the total number of histone molecules in this diploid genome? Enter your answer as coefficient 10 exponent (e.g., 2 1013) AE

Explanation / Answer

Haploid set has 3*109 bp

diploid genome will have (twice haploid set) 2*3*109 bp= 6 *109 bp

200 bp forms one nucleosome

6*109 will form 6*109/200    = 6*109/2*102 nucleosomes =3*107 nucleosomes

Now lets move towards total histone molecule number

since each nucleosome contains 9 histone molecule

3*107 nucleosomes will contain 9*3*107 histone molecules = 27 * 107 histones

Hope it answers the question, I tried my level best, feel free to comment and discuss .....I will ty to help u more i could

Regards.
