Question
I have 3 groups. One group will be starched based thickeners, the other will be gum based thickeners, and the last will be gel based thickeners. The patients will use the thickness deemed safe. I want to see if hydration levels will increase among the three groups after intake. Would I have to do a t-test here or an ANOVA test? So basically there are three groups: 1 patient group will have starch based thickeners. 1 patient group will have gum based thickeners. And 1 patient group will have gel based thickeners. Within those three groups it is broken down even further by thickness deemed safe for patients inside each group. So within the starched based group there will be patients assigned to different viscosities (nectar thick, honey thick, and pudding thick) same for both the gum and gel based thickeners (nectar thick, honey thick, and pudding thick) Three groups and three stimuli within each group. How would I check for statistical significance? What type of ANOVA test a 3x3 ANOVA test? And which post hoc test would be appropriate?
Explanation / Answer
Factorial ANOVA design with two factors group and viscosiity and dependent variable hydration level.
For this conduct factorial ANOVA including interaction. If interaction is signficant then apply post-hoc Tukey test for group and viscosity separately
