2) Working with Matrices (15 points) 1.v=[ 1 3 5 7], wa(13,5,7], what is difference between v and w? what is the meaning of v(3)? 2, t=1 : .1 : 10, what is the vector size of t? 3. k- 0:10, what is the size of vector k, what is the increment between 2 successive elements in k? 4. Nzeros(3,4), nones( 3,4), m -eye(3), w magic(3) what kind of each matrix N, n, m, w? 1 2 3 o 1 0 7 23-41 3 5. A = | 4 7-11 B=12.5 11 4.5 3 21 a. How to get the element of row 2 column 1 in A? b. A+B c. A-B d. What is the difference of A B and A. B? e. What is the transpose and inverse matrix of A? f. What is the rank of B?

Explanation / Answer

1.

V is a representation in vector form and W is a column matrix.

V(3) is syntax for extracting third element in any vector representation.

2. 0.1 is spacing then the size will be 10 devided by 0.1 which is equal to 100.

3. By default the increment between to successive elemensts is taken as unity so the size of vector will be 10.

4. N will be a zero matrix of dimension 3*4 , n will be a 3*4 matrix having all ealements equal to 1, m will be identity matix of size 3*3, w is a square matrix of size 3.

5.

a. A(2,1)

b. [1 3 3; 6.5 14 10; 27.5 -38 24]

d. a*b is the "usual" matrix-vector multiplication, a.*b is elementwise multiplication.

f rank of the matrix is 3.
