Question
Note: I couldn' draw the table because the system won't allow me draw the raw and column. So the table has 3 columns with data (Obs- minutes- units), then 14 row from 1 to 14. so below obs (1 to 14). below minutes (23-29-49-64-74-87-96-97-109-119-149-145-154-166). below units we have (1-2-3-4-4-5-6-6-7-8-9-9-10-10).
Problem: Data is from a company that markets and repairssmall computers. It contains 2 variables: length of service call in minutes and number of electronic components in the computer that needed to be repaired or replaced
The regression equation is : Minutes= 4.16+15.51Units
1. Is it "units" a useful predictor of changes in minutes? states the hypothesis to tbe the test, formulas, the decision rule, the test statistics and your decision. What conclusion can be drawn from the result of the test?
2. construct a 95% confidence interval (Cl) around the regression coefficients (bo and b1). Calculate by hand and include formulas and steps. Check your answer with SAS.
3. construct a 95% confidence interval for the "average" length of service call in minutes of a computer which had "5" electronic components that need to be repaired or replaced(units). Provide formulas and steps of your calculations, and the interpretation of the Cl.
4.construct a 95% prediction interval for the length of service call in minutes(minute) of computer wich had 5 electronic components that need to be repaired or replaced (units). Provide the interpretation of the Cl. Check your answer with SAS. Show your works and formula
5. Which one is narrower? why?
*Note: I am working right now on the SAS part of the problem trying to enter my codes and see if they will match the calculations. the above problem printed out few tables that i couldnt copy and paste or even upload here to show you because chegg system won't allow me. However, the charts and tables are : simple statistics showing( variances- N- Mean St deviation-sum-min-max- with minutes and units as variables)
-second tables is the "analysis of variance" showing (DF-model-error-sum of squares-mean squares-F values- Pr>F- corrected total
and the last table (root MSE- R-square- dependent mean- Adj R.Sq-coeff Var)
Explanation / Answer
1. In order to comment about the Units variable the statistics that can be looked for is p value which ideally should be <0.0001 or as low as possible
Its wald chi-square should be as high as possible
2.95% CI can be calulated by (Xbar-1.96std.Devation,Xbar+1.96Std Deviation)
