The dynamics of water system in a wetland is very important. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) studies the movement of water bodies and associated contaminants in the United States. The agencies have determined that in a typical wetland environment, 0.38 of the water occurs as outflow; 0.47 as seepage; 0.07 through evaporation; while 0.08 remains as water volume in the ecosystem. The compound of Chloride (Cl) emanating from residential areas affect the wetland system since they occur as residuals.

Assuming in the Oakland County Wetland, Chloride compounds concentrations in milligram per liter (mg/l) were determined to be 64.1 in the outflow; 75.8 in the seepage, 23.9 remained due to evaporation of the water body, and the concentration in the remaining water volume was 68.2.

a.) Estimate the weighted average of Cl compound concentration in mg/l for the Oakland County ecological system.

b.) Assuming the target level set by the EPA for Cl compound concentration in wetlands is equal to or less than 58 mg/l. What is your opinion on whether or not the Oakland County Wetland is in compliance with this EPA target standard.

(b) Since the average Chlorine content in Oakland Country ecosystem is way more than the permissible Chlorine content, therefore, it does not compliance with the EPA target standard.
