Question
1 Sampling Methods
A team of World Campus academic advisors is planning a research study to compare men and women in terms of how many times per semester they interact with their advisors. There are approximately 12,242 World Campus students in total. It would take too long to look up the genders and number of interactions for each student. They want to identify a sample of 100 World Campus students to include in their study.
Describe how they could use a simple random sampling method to obtain a sample of 100 World Campus students.
Describe how they could use a convenience sampling method to obtain a sample of 100 World Campus students.
Of the sampling procedures described in parts a through d, which would you recommend that the researchers use? Explain why.
What are the explanatory and response variables in this study?
Response Variable:
Explanatory Variable:
Explanation / Answer
Here we are given 12242 total student .
In sampling random sampling each sample as equal chance of selection in sample.
So here each student is equal chance being selection in sample.
So in simple random sampling select randomely 100 student from total 12242 students .
In convenience sample we select sample they easily available or near sample.
So select 100 sample from near area or easily available.
Here use simple random sampling because they give perfect sample. And they represent hole population.
Explanatory variable means independent variables..so here student are explanatory variable each student are independent each other.
Girl and boys are depend on each other so they are response variable.
