The name and composer of the selection
Art music is known as the formal music that follows theoretical considerations in their composure. The name of the composer of art music is Johann Sebastian Bach. An example of his music is "Jesu, Joy of man's desiring."
The location of the selection
Most of Art music is rooted in the western world. Jesu music is mostly structured to fit wedding ceremonies and also suits Christmas festive seasons and the Easter seasons. The introductory concepts include the opening chorus followed by four arias. (Koo, 2012).
A short analysis of the piece from the point of view of a Referential Listener
A referential listener is someone who remembers something that comes up from listening to music. Some of the music played gets someone caught up in thoughts of something that happened when he was listening to that music.
About Johann Sebastian song' Jesu, Joy of man's designing, a referential listener will start thinking of the stories he has heard concerning Christmas and Easter holidays. Such a listener will have thoughts of how h passes the time during such moments. The memories brought about may be good or bad and may make the listener have positive or negative emotions.
One may opt to listen to some kind of music so as to have a flashback of the past experiences. This brings back particular stories that are connected by the music.
Finally, indicate what musical "concept" is illustrated by the selection (e.g. musical idea, ensemble, solo performer, variation, etc.), and state intelligently whether you think the selection was effective in doing so.(Bach, 2013).
This selection of music has beautiful melodies that are different from other songs of its kind. The musical idea is to pass the message about Jesus to Christians making people understand that God is the giver of the Music talents.
Initially, the musician sang it as a solo performer using a piano. In today's generation, it is not done by a single performer. People stand in lines and do the singing. The selection is effective since it makes the people singing in different tunes sound such melodies and makes the song appear very wonderful.
