Suppose you are on the island of knights and knaves, where knights can only tell the truth and knaves can only lie. The inhabitants of this island can understand English but only respond to questions in their native language. You know that the natives of the island responded to yes or no questions with either "nee" or "ping" but do not know which means yes and which means no. You are allowed to ask one yes or no question to a native on the island in order to determine whether they are a knight or a knave. What question do you ask?

“Does nee mean Yes?"

Explanation

If nee means yes, then the knight would answer nee (yes). If nee does not mean yes, then the knight would answer nee (no).

If the person were a knave and nee meant yes, he would lie and say ping (no). If nee did not mean Yes then he would lie and say ping (yes)
