Would you mind solving this question, and a brief explanation ?
In the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, players detect the outcomes of events by rolling a fair 20-sided die (the sides are numbered from 1 to 20). The outcome of rolling a 20 is known as a "critical success" and the outcome of rolling a 1 is known as a "critical failure". (a) In the long run. how often will the outcome be a critical success or critical failure? (b) What is the probability of getting a critical success or critical failure in 10 rolls?Explanation / Answer
(A)
Probability of getting critical success in any roll is 1/20
Probabilitiy of getting critical failure in any roll is 1/20
Hence required probability = 1/20 + 1/20 = 2/20 = 1/10 = 0.1
(B)
Probability of getting no critical success or no critical failure in 10 rolls = (18/20)^10 = 0.3487
Hence Probability of getting a critical success or critical failure in 10 rolls = 1 - 0.3487 = 0.6513
