Summary: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effects of mindfulness eating and yoga exercise on blood sugar levels of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus. The target population is pregnant Thai women with GDM. Randomization method is used to determine if mindfulness eating and yoga exercise benefit in the blood sugar level. The information about blood sugar level is measured through capillary fasting plasma glucose, 2-h ostprandial blood glucose, and hemoglobin A1c.

The paper contains useful survey and review of the related problem in the introductory section. The second section titled "Methods" explains the method used in the paper to find the effectiveness of mindfulness eating and yoga exercise with the randomization principle being used to allocate the treatment. The study protocol and ethical considerations were approved by the right authority. Here, the intervention group were trained to perform mindfulness eating and yoga exercise in two 50-minute sessions.

Analysis:

The variables such as Religion, Education, Current Employment, Number of pregnancy, Previous GDM, and Family history of diabetes, and their various levels don't impact the analyses as seen by their high p-values indicating insignificance, see Table 1, titled Frequency, percentage, chi square, and p-values of participant's characteristics (n = 170).". Thus, there is no bias which needs separte analysis at the different levels.

The baseline characteristics of Age (year), Body weight (kg), Body mass index (kg/m2), Fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL), 1-h plasma glucose (mg/dL), 2-h plasma glucose (mg/dL), 3-h plasma glucose (mg/dL) are evenly distributed across the Intervention and Control groups as seen by the insignificant p-values in Table 2. Thus, we are now all set to compare the benefits of diet and yoga on the variable of interest.

The pre- and post test value clearly shows the benefits of the diet and excercise program through the p-values in Table 3. Thus, it is appropriate to promote diabetes self-management among pregnant women with GDM A1 practicing mindfulness eating and yoga exercise regularly may be beneficial.
