Question
For this problem, we return to the data for the 76 cereals we investigated at the beginning of Module 3. Imagine that two new cereals are being rated by Consumer Reports. Cereal A has 10.5 grams of sugar in a serving and Cereal B has 2.5 grams of protein in a serving. Use the equations of the lines of best fit to predict the Consumer Reports rating for the two cereals. For which cereal do you think your prediction is probably more accurate? That is, for which cereal do you think your prediction is likely be closer to the actual Consumer Reports rating? Why?Explanation / Answer
he data are not given in the question , however in order to make the prediction and understand the workings
equations are
ratings = 60- 2.43* sugar and
rating = 28 + 5.96*protien
so if protien = 2.5gms and sugar = 10.5 grams , we get the rating values as
rating = 28 + 5.96*2.5 = 42.9
ratings = 60- 2.43*10.5 = 34.48
based on the grpahs , the prediction for the model1 for sugar should be more accurate as the data is less scattered around the fitted regression line. as the points are much farther from the fitted line in the protien graph the residual terms would be much greater . Hence sugar equation would perform better
