Since it costs $ 520 to produce 100 CDs and $ 600 to produce 500 CDs, hence p = (600-520)/(500-100) = 80/400 = 0.2. Then , we have C = 0.2n +q. Further, when n = 100, we have C = 520, so that 520 = 0.2*100+q = 20+q. Therefore, q = 520-20 = 500. Thus, the required linear function is C = 0.2n+500.
