Question
tatistics 1. To test whether or not exercise has an immediate effect on lowering blood sugar content, 10 volunteers agreed to have blood tested for sugar level 2h before the exercise and again right after the exercise. Results are shown in the table below. Perform an appropriate statistical test. Does the exercise help to reduce blood sugar? Show detailed calculation or Excel printout. Blood sugar (mg/gl) Blood sugar (mg/gL) Volunteer No Volunteer No Before exercise 78 89 102 75 96 After exercise 76 80 94 72 90 After exercise 113 95 84 110 100 Before exercise 120 85 114 103 4 10Explanation / Answer
The mean average of the blood glucose of volunteers before exercise is =961/10 =96.1 mg/gL
The mean average of the blood glucose of the volunteers after exercise is = 914/10 = 91.4 mg/gL
In each volunteer the blood glucose levels have gone down significantly after exercise. and when the mean average is calculated, its value also has gone down significantly by approximately 5%.
Thus it shows that carrying out the exercises will significantly contribute the reduction in the blood glucose levels.
