Question

Then,, I have to solve the following probblem .

Within the Asian continent, would any countries be considered to be unusually low, or unusually high in terms of their coffee consumption? Justify your answer statistically.

That is, use the statistical difinition of unusual and explain how it applies to the countries in question, if any. Why do those particular countries have unusually low or high coffee consumption?

Note that the statistical difinition of unusual is not the same as an outlier.

Explanation / Answer

Data beyond two standard deviations away from the mean is considered "unusual" data.

So each of the given continents we need to look at these values. The follwoing table summarises the countries which depic such unusual consumption pattern

Why these particular nations are showing unusual coffee consumptions is beyond the scope of my subject area. It could depend on the geographical location of these countries or their cultural dimensions.

I can say that these certainly aren't the top coffee producing nations so the reason isnt certainly an obvious one
