How do I figure out how many target companies I need to use and my sampling size of my randomly selected memeber for my study? Or should I be conducting some other form of quantitative analysis? I have SPSS and G Power but have no idea on how to use these tools.
The purpose of this quantitative correlation study is to examine the relationship between missing business requirement and high defect rates in test results that result in high IT project failure rates.. The independent variables include missing business requirements and high defect rates results. The target group will include 12 companies with 111 randomly selected members of the IT project teams located in the Northeast United States to study why IT projects fail at a high rate. The Northeast United States has a high concentration of companies working on IT projects that can provide input on the relationship between the lack of requirement scrutiny and the insufficient testing of IT system specification throughout the planning phase of IT project management.

Here, we can see that no. of independent variable is 2 and dependent variable is 1. Minimum 30 sample size would be required to apply the method of multiple regression. Now, if the number of randomly selected members be high, the data will contain more information so that we can get a better view of the IT project failure rates. But when the sample size is high, the cost of getting data from that sample will also be high. So we cannot take a huge sample size. 150 will be a moderate sample size.
