1.80
You have a company that packages your seeds and consumers are complaining that the packages do not have enough in them for the 1.70oz size. The boss runs 36 sample packages with the results from the data above.
Calulate a 95% confidence interval on the average weight of the package of seeds. Expalin waht the 95% confidence interval means and is there anything you would want to tell managaement about the data set.
Using the same data set your manager determines the true mean to be 1.72oz with the same standare deviation. The store where you sell your seeds has been periodically sampling and fiugring up the average weight. The manager wants to be at least 95% of the time sure that the average package has at least 1.7oz. further he wants to be sure that 95% of the time, the store that is watching will find a sample mean of at least 1.70 oz. At the same time he doesnt want to fill pakcages with more product then he absolutely has to.
Waht advice would you give the manager about how to calibrate the equipement should they increase or decrease and by how much?
Are there any other steps they maybe able to take to improve the situation?
Here is my answers are they correct?
80.64% of the time will the TV crew find a sample with at least or more than 1.70oz.
Juan determines that the true mean of the packages is in fact 1.72 oz. with the same standard deviation. Juan tells you that he wants to be at least 95% sure that the average package has at least 1.7oz. Juan further wants to be sure that 95% of the time the people watching him will find a sample with at least 1.70oz.
What advice would you give the mustard seed factory managementas to how to calibrate their equipment?
I would tell the management to slightly increase the packaging amount as only 80.64% of the packages are 1.70oz or greater. I would also tell him to continue to test random samples and that he may get closer to 95% ut may never exactly reach 95%.
In particular, should the increase or decrease the amount they are putting in the package and by how much?
I would increase slightly the amount the are adding.
Are there any other steps they might be able to take to improve the situation? Continue the quality control and testing.
