Question
Determine whether the normal probability plot to the right indicates that the sample data could have come from a population that is normally distributed. Choose the correct answer below. A. The relation is not linear, so the smaple data could have come from a population that is normally distributed. B. The relation is approximately linear, so the sample data could have come from a population that is normally distributed. C. The relation is approximately linear, so the sample data could not have come from a population that is normally distributed. D. The relation is not linear, so the sample data could not have come from a population that is normaly distrbuted.Explanation / Answer
From the given Q-Q plot at right side, we notice that the relationship is approximately linear. All the three straight lines are very much closer for most of the points except for extreme quabtile points. So, there is slight deviation from the exact linear relationship but that is only in two extreme ends (at lowest and at highest quntiles). So, it is acceptable to consifder that the relation is approximately linear. And in Q-Q plot if we get an approximated straight line, then the sample could come from a normal distribution population.
So, the answer is option (B)
