Question

Suppose a researcher increases his sample size from 100 to 150 and another researcher increases her sample size from 600 to 650. Which researcher will get greater increase in precision by increasing sample size by 50? Explain the difference between standard deviation and standard error. Explain why we use the standard deviation and standard error. Explain what confidence intervals tell us and why we construct confidence intervals. Suppose a researcher found that the M=40 and SEaf-2.00. What are the limits of the 68%. 95%. and 99% confidence interval? Explain each confidence interval.

Explanation / Answer

1) the larger the sample size means larger the precision or we can say that the precision increases as the sample size increases.

in the sample 1 the size increases by 50 from 100 tp 150 which means 50% increase

in sample 2 the size increases by 50 from 600 to 650 which means 8.3% increase.

as the increase is more in the sample 1 therefore the precision will increase more in sample 1.
