Question

1) A simulation model of a precision manufacturing plant was developed to investigate different scheduling rules. To validate the model, the regular weekly schedule was incorporated into the model. Historical records show that the plant produces 25 units on a given week. Ten independent replications of the model were run, each of 30 weeks duration. The results for the average number of units per week are: 19.2 22.5 18.8 21.8 19.4 21.7 21.2 24.1 22.9 23.1 Develop and conduct a statistical test to evaluate whether the model output is consistent with system behavior. Use the level of significance = 0.05.

Explanation / Answer

the model output is not consistent , the calculations are done using T tests

Average output - 21.47

std deviation - 1.80988

using t test -  http://www.sthda.com/english/wiki/t-test-formula#one-sample-t-test-formula

out t value is -6.16772

but for alpha = 0.05 and 9 degrees of freedom

t value should be less than 1.833 for the model to be consistent hence we see significant deviation and hence model is not consistent
