Question

Given below is information about a network. Choose one of the following three options: the network is definitely a tree; may or may not be a tree (more information is needed). Accompany your answer with a brief explanation for your choice. The network has eleven vertices, no loops, and no multiple edges, and has two vertices of degrve 1 and nine vertices of degree 2. O A. The network may or may not be a tree because the number of bridges is unknown. O B. The network is definitely a tree because it satisfies the N + 1 edges property since it has 1 1 vertices and 10 edges. O C. The network may or may not be a tree because the number of edges is unknown. O D. The network is definitely not a tree because it violates the N-1 edges property since it has 11 vertices and 10 edges O E. The network is definitely not a tree because it violates the single-path property O F· The network is definitely a tree because it satisfies the N-1 edges property since it has 1 1 vertices and 10 edges. Explanation / Answer

Here option F is correct. We know that the number of degrees is equal to double the number of edges. Given that one degree 2 vertices and two degree of 9 vertices. So total number of edges = (1*2 + 2*9) /2 = 10

So in the above it satisfies that N+1 vertices and N edges or N-1 edges and N vertices

Where N-1 is number of edges that is 10

and N is number of vertices that is 11 which is given in the question
