6. Write and solve four different word problems for 21 ÷4. a. In the first word problem, the answer should be best expressed as 5, remainder 1. Explain why this is the best answer. Interpret the meaning of "5, remainder 1" in the context of the problem. b. In the second word problem, the answer should be best expressed as Explain why this is the best answer. What does the mean in the con- text of the problem? c. In the third word problem, the answer should be best expressed as 5.25. Explain why this is the best answer. d. The answer to the fourth word problem should be 6 (even though 21 ÷ 4 6). Explain why this is the best answer.Explanation / Answer
6
a) In the first word problem we can prove 21/4 = 4 multiplies 5 and remainder 1
4) 21 ( 5
20
1
In the above 4*5 = 20 So remiander we will get as 1 , The meaning of 5 remainder 1 is, 21 is divisible by 4 with divisor 5 and remainder 1
b) 21/4 is written as 5 1/4 since
5 1/4 = ((5*4) +1) / 4 = (20+1) /4 = 21/4
Therefore it is proved as 21/4 = 5 1/4
Here the meaning of 1/4 is the 1 in 4 or quarter of 1 or one fourth of a number 1.
c) 21/4 is also best expressed as 5.25
It means we can write 21/4 as, 21/4 = (20 + 1) / 4 = (20/4) +(1/4)
= 5 + 0.25
= 5.25
Hence we proved that 21/4 = 5.25
d) In some cases we can take the values which are 0.0 or more than 0.5 as 1
It is the best answer in case where the result is number of persons requird or etc, its like how much quantity that should be a natural number
Than in the earlier problem 5.25 , it is more than 5 but not 5
So the answer may be taken as approximately 6
