Question

The problem is here below. Please explain in detail The steps to follow In order to do problem are here below Hello is there any way you could help me with problem 1 (which is in the first picture provided below). If you could explain the problem in detail and also use pictures. Also In order to do this problem l have provided the second picture below which are of the steps we must follow for this problem in order to do it. I am trying to explain to my niece so thank you so much again trying to make everything clear and easy follow.

Explanation / Answer

Hello,

(POINT A & B)

First, we start the solution by assuming two things for a broader view to the problem/question here, that is,

1 Litre = 4 cups of water (approx) ; 1 Gallon (in U.S.)= 4 Litres (approx) implies

1 Gallon = 4 Litres x 4 cups in one litre = 16 cups (approx)

1 cup of water = 1/16 Gallons of water .........(Eq. 1)

Now, there are two cases, (POINT C)

1. Leap Years (366 days)

2. Non-Leap years (Normal) (365 days)

For a life span of 60 years which has 15 leap years, that is, every 4th year being the leap year, so 4th,8th,12th,16th year would be the leap years and the 20th year (5th leap year) would be marked in adult age (above 18 years), therefore, out of total 15 leap years we subtract 4 leap years i.e. remaining 11 leap years would be counted in his 42 years of adult life {60 years - 18 years (pre adult life) }.

Out of 42 years remaining, it has 11 leap years and 31 regular years........(Eq.2)

Case 1 : (Usage Eq.1 )

11 leap years = 11 * 366 days = 4026 days = 4026 * 8 cups per day = 32208 cups of water = 2013 Gallons of water ......(Eq.3)

Case 2 :

31 regular years= 31*365 days= 11315 days = 11315 * 8 cups per day = 90520 cups of water = 5657.5 Gallons of water ......(Eq.4)

(POINT D) Adding Eq.3 and Eq.4 , we get, the final answer

7670.5 Gallons (Approx.) (Assuming adult life is 42 years i.e. after 18 years till 60 years)

(POINT E)

Note: This answer takes in 8 cups every day, if the reader takes more/equal cups then the anwer increases/remains same correspondingly)

Also, if you take 60 years of life after 18 years then do the soultion likewise as Eq.3 and Eq.4, and take 45 regular years and 15 leap years.

Hope It would help you and your niece.

Happy Chegging!
