Find the average per-person spending on housing, vehicles/gas, Health. care Housing 6000 5000 4000 Vehicles gas and health care in 2010. 1000 Find the average per-person spending on housing in 2010.Explanation / Answer
Let the average per-person spending on housing, vehicles/gas and healthcare in 2010 be $ x,y and z respextively. Then x+y+z = 13838…(1), x-y = 3810…(2), and x-z= 649…(3). Now, on adding the 3 equations, we get x+y+z+x-y+x-z = 13838+3810+649 or, 3x = 18297 so that x = 18297/3 =6099. Now, on substituting x = 6099 in the 2nd and the 3rd equations, we get 6099-y = 3810 or, y = 6099-3810 = 2289 and 6099-z= 649 or, z= 6099-649 = 5450.
Thus, the average per-person spending on housing in 2010 = $ 6099
The average per-person spending on vehicles/gas in 2010 = $ 2289
The average per-person spending on heathcare in 2010 = $ 5450
