Question
Solve each world problem. Remember to declare your variables (use one or two variables), make a picture or chart whenever possible, and state the answer in a sentence. if possible can you use the cramster custom equation entry too.
1) Find two consecutive even integers whose product is 360.
2) A beverage manufacturer makes two product, Pog, containing 10% orange juice and Orange Punch, containing 50% orange juice. how many gallons of POG must be mixed with 300 gallons of Orange Punch to create a new product containing 40% orange juice?
3) Kia plans develop a circular race track 2 miles in circumfrence on a square plot of land, then what is the minimum area of the land? ( do not convert to )
Explanation / Answer
I don't know how to use the cramster custom equation entry :( I'm sorry 1) then if the first is x the second would be x+2 as they are consecutive even integers x(x+2)=360 x^2+2x -360=0 (we factorize this) (x-18)(x+20)=0 then x1=18 and x2=20 2)P=0.1O , OP=0.5O then 300 gallons of Orange punch has 150 gallons of orange juice X*0.1 + 150= 0.4 * (X+300) 0.1X + 150=0.4X + 120 0.4X - 0.1X=150-120 X=100 so we need 100 gallons of POG :) 3) here we need to inscribe the circle in the square to get minimum area of land(area of the square) so we have to find the radius first to get the diameter which would be the side of the square circumference= 2 pi r=2 then r= 1/pi diameter= 2/pi then area of square= 4/pi^2
