Question
having problems with reading problems can you help me? The polynomial 0.041h - 0.018A - 2.69 can be used to estimatethe lung capacity, in liters, of a female with height h cm and ageA years. Find the lung capacity of a 22-year-woman who is 188 cmtall. Round to the nearest liter. -The insturctions says to solve using the five-stepproblem-solving process.- A rancher in Centerville decides to build a silo inside hiscorral. The rectangular corral measures 23m by 18m and the silo'sbase is circular with a diameter of 2x meters. Find apolyomial for the remaining area of the corral (in square meters)after the also is built. -The same instructions as this one- having problems with reading problems can you help me? The rectangular corral measures 23m by 18m and the silo'sbase is circular with a diameter of 2x meters. Find apolyomial for the remaining area of the corral (in square meters)after the also is built. -The same instructions as this one-Explanation / Answer
h = height in cm A = age in years L = lung capacity in liters
Break it down into this :
0.041 * h ---> 0.041 *188 (h = 188-cm tall woman) = 0.902 0.018 * A ---> 0.018 * 22 (A = 22 year old woman) = 0.396
Then solve the polynomial equation : 0.041h - 0.018A -2.69 = L
L = 7.708 - 0.396 - 2.96 (withthe products for each term from above) L = 4.352
The lung capacity of the woman is 4.352 Liters
Not sure what the five step method to this would be ?
Maybe :
1. State the polynomial (0.041h - 0.018A - 2.69 =L) 2. Define the terms and input values ( h = 188 cm, A = 22years, L = 4.352 L ) 3. Solve the products of each polynomial (this was myintermediate step ex. 0.041 * h for each constant- variable pair) as this would allow you to also do anotherintermediate step for #4. 4. Re-arrange to solve for the correct variable. This is notdone in your case as the L is the variable being solved for. This could change is you wanted to leave anothervariable alone and solve let's say for Lung Capacity as a function of Height at a defined age. 5. Solve the polynomial by summation of terms from step #3(and sometimes step #4)
This should work for your other problem too. Please let meknow if this helps you at all, and of course please rate.Thanks!
