Question

Question Help A study analyzed the sustainablity behaviors of CPA corporations. The level of support for oorporate sustainability (measured on a quantitative scale ranging from O to points) was obtained for each in a sample of 991 senior managers at CPA firms. The CEO of a CPA firm claims that the true mean level of support for sustainability is 67. Complete parts a through e below a. Speaify the nul and alternative hypotheses for testing this claim. : . : : 67 -67 > 67 Ha: H 67 : #87 b. For this problem, what is a Type I error? A Type Il error? Choose the correct answer below. O A. A Type Ileror would be to condlude that the O B. A Type l error would be to condlude that the true mean level of support for sustainability is 67 when, in fa mean level of support for sustainabilty is not 67 whan, in fact, the mean is equal to 67 C. A Type l error would be to conclude that the mean level of support for sustainability is 67 when, in fact, the O D. A Type l error would be to conclude that the true Choose the correct answer below mean level of support for sustainability is not 67 when, in fact, the mean is equal to 67 O A. Explanation / Answer

A) In testing the value of a true mean the null hypothesis is equal to the value of the mean we are considering while alternative hypothesis is that the mean value is not equal to that. So option D. H0: u= 67, H1: u not equal to 67 is correct.

B) The probability of a Type I error is rejecting H0 when it is true and a Type II error is the probability of accepting H0 when it is false. So for Type I error option D is correct. For Type II error option B is correct.

C) The p value is the observed signifance level of the test statistic. From table one-sample test it can be seen that this is 0.000.

D) We know that the smaller the p value, the stronger is the evidence against the null hypothesis. So option C is correct. That is we reject the null hypothesis because the p value is less than the level of significance.
