The way people within an estimated locality live is evaluated through statistics. One of the most essential procedures in statistics is known as hypothesis testing. Hypothesis testing basically involves he evaluation of the mutual exclusive probabilities about a population. The test is primarily meant to compare the two mutual by determining which one of the two is highly supported by the sample data collected. During a hypothesis testing the end result of the research might be classified as either null or significant.

For instance in research quiz school set up the school society was debating on whether the introduction of computers studies will lead to increased rate of internet based immoralities? Introduction of computer studies will lead to immoralities such as pornography, gambling etc. This is the statement of hypothesis.

This introduction of the computer studies will not lead to such immoralities at any single point. This will be due to schools organization and rules set especially within the computer rooms where the students are allowed to access the internet. These rules gives the teachers in charge to monitor the students as they offer guidance on how best they can access the internet. The laws established within such institutions allows the students to access such like services within the presence of an instructor therefore limiting the misuse of the services.

In a hypothesis test, we have the significant level, commonly denoted as alpha ().A result have statistical significance if it is very unlikely to have occurred given the null hypothesis (William, L. T. ,2000).For example in our case scenario when the society argues that he students should not be introduced to computer studies to cub immorality. In as much as the society fears that the students will be influenced. It is significant to acknowledge that due to the change of time computer literacy is becoming one of the basic form of education systems especially within learning institutions.

Differentiating between alpha and p-values– a p-value is an observed significance level (based on the calculated test statistic) and an alpha is a chosen  (or provided by CFAI) significance level that acts as a threshold (associated with a critical value).

In conclusion, coming up within a substantiated facts concerning an issue, the society ought to embrace the art of hypothesis tests since it is globally accepted by statistical researchers.
