Question
A new treatment for baldness is known to be effective in 70% of the cases treated. Four bald members of the same family are treated; let X be the number of successfully treated members of the family. Is X a binomial random variable?
Why can't time on a clock be considered as a discrete random variable?

Explanation / Answer
1) given p=70%=0.7 is remain same for all the cases trated.
n=4 number of cased treated is prefixed.
And all the cases treated are independent.
Hence all the condition of of binomial distribution are meet perfectly.
Hence random variable number of cases treated successfully is binomial random variable with parameters n=4 and p=0.7
2) time in the is cannot be considered as discrete because it can take any value of time. It is not like discrete becouse discrete only takes specific values.
