Explanation / Answer

Hello Sir/ Mam

It is quite clear that the events are independent.

Q-5- THE CORRECT ANSWER IS OPTION D : P(selecting an appetizer or salad) = 38.3%

P(selecting an appetizer or salad) = P(selecting an appetizer) + P(selecting a salad) = 0.210+0.173 = 0.383, i.e. 38.3%

Q-6- THE CORRECT ANSWER IS OPTION B : P(anything but a vegetable or a main dish) = 48.6%

P(anything but a vegetable or a main dish) = 1 - [P(selecting a vegetable) + P(selecting a main dish)] = 1 - (0.093+0.421) = 1 - 0.514 = 0.486, i.e. 48.6%

I hope this solves your doubt.
