Question

Assume that US population was 285 million in 2000 and has been growing at 1.09% percent per year. (In your spreadsheet, make the growth rate a named constant, the value of which you can change later on. And label it on your spreadsheet for good practice.) (1) Assuming that the population growth rate remained constant, calculate the expected population for everv 5 vears between 2000 and 2100 using the population (exponential) growth formula. Hint: If time is measured in years, t is the number of years after some arbitrary initial time at which t-0. If you let that time be the year 2000, how could you modify the formula above to do the math on dates? Take the growth constant 'k' as the percentage growth rate.
