Question
Dr. Moot conducted a research project in which she compared the impact of two types of therapy (pizza therapy and chocolate therapy) and gender on college students’ happiness. What effects (main or interaction), if any, did she find? How would she report her findings (be sure to restate the research hypothesis and provide the appropriate test findings)?

Explanation / Answer
Significance value shows whether the given effect affected the happiness.
The significance level of therapy and gender is more i.e. .127 and .176 resp. which is greater than 0.05 that is standard acceptance level of error.
So on that ground the therapy and gender did not show any effect on happiness.
Whereas the interaction of gender and therapy had significant effect on the happiness.
Research hypothesis
3 Null hypothesis would be
There is no effect of therapy on happiness.
There is no effect of gender on happiness.
There is no effect of interaction of therapy and gender on happiness.
3 Alternate hypothesis would be
There is effect of therapy on happiness.
There is effect of gender on happiness.
There is effect of interaction of therapy and gender on happiness.
So she did not have sufficient evidence to reject the first 2 null hypothesis and so she accepts that.
Also there is sufficient evidence to reject the 3rd null hypothesis and so she accepts the 3rd alternate hypothesis.
