What are reasons that would suggest life might be rare in the Universe? Select all that apply:
A.Even the most simple cells are very complex.
B.There is not enough water in the Universe to sustain life like ours.
C.There are no other planets like our Earth around stars.
D.The probability of life forming by chance is incredibly small.
Explanation / Answer
A. Even the most simple cells are very complex. All animals, plants and fungi evolved from one ancestor, the first ever complex, or “eukaryotic”, cell. This common ancestor had itself evolved from simple bacteria, but it has long been a mystery why this seems to have happened only once: bacteria, after all, have been around for billions of years.
D. .The probability of life forming by chance is incredibly small. A great many unlikely events needed to unfold in exactly the way that they did to form life thus their chance of repeating itself in same sequence is vary small.
