Question
Writing Hypotheses and Selecting Tests Write a null hypothesis and an alternate hypothesis for each of the following tests. Make sure each hypothesis clearly communicates what is being tested and mentions the independent and dependent variables. Decide which test(s) is appropriate to analyze the data. A grower wants to know if two strawberry cultivars ("Big Red' and 'Daryl') have fruit of the same size (g). A reported wants to know if there is a relationship between manufacturer (Deere, Case) and equipment color (Red, Green, Yellow). A curious person wonders if runway models turn right and left with equal frequency. A grower wants to know if a new biostimulant (Super+) works better than the old produet (Pretty Good) or no product at all, with regard to root growth (g).Explanation / Answer
1) For comparison of two groups we want to used t-test here and hypothesis for this is,
X = size first type strawberry
y = size of second type strawberry
H0 is null hypothesis and H1 is alternative hypothesis,
H0 : The average fruit size of both strawberry are same.
against,
H1 : The average fruit size of both strawberry are differant.
2 ) If we want to find the relationship between two contineous variable then use the correlation and for categorical variable use chi-sqaure test,
X = Manufacturer
y = colour
Hypothesis :
H0 : The choice of colour is independent on manufacturer.
against,
H1 : The choice of colour is dependent on manufacturer.
3) It is the type of turn over test. The required data for this test is conduct the experiment on person turn on which side.
H0 : Person turn to Left side or right side is independent on each other.
against,
H1 :Person turn to Left side or right side is dependent on each other.
4 ) Use t-test for comparison between two groups.
Conduct a experiment on two plants in one plant use first biostimular and in second use the new biostimular then collect the data on this.
X = root grouth using first biostimular
Y = root grouth using second biostimular
Test Hypothesis :
H0 : The mean grouth of root is same for both biostimular.
against,
H1 : The mean grouth of root is differant for both biostimular.
5 ) The p-value is less than 0.05 that means accept the null hypothesis. and hypothesis for this test is,
H0 : The size of apple changed after irregation program
against,
H1 : The size of apple not changed after irregation program.
