For Part 2 of this assignment, you need to compare the environments listed in table 2 and the descriptions and rock names you listed in Part 1.

Note: I have already done Part 1 of this assignment and provided Part 1 Sedimentary Rocks Table for it. Also, the environments listed in table 2 and the lines that need to be filled in for Part 2 of this assignment is provided below as well.

Explanation / Answer

G- River (clastic) since arkose is formed by the weathering of igneous and metamorphic rocks which are carried by rivers and deposited as alluvial fans.

H- Deep sea (clastic) In deep sea only the mud is deposited with very rare deposition of sands in exceptional conditions.

I- Shallow sea (biogenic) It is coquina which is poorly consilolidated and shell fragments can be seen with naked eye.

J- Reef (biogenic) lime mudstone, shell fragments are invisible with naked eye which is composed of microscopic shells of organisms.

K- Beach (clastic) grain size is from sand to gravel, very well sorted and well rounded due to prolonged transportation. Due to tide action very well sorted.

L- Shallow sea ( Chemical) It is dolostone which is formed by the precipitation of the carbonate material in tbe sea water.
