Question

The following questions refer to the same scenario where the math (M) and verbal (V) SAT scores are each distributed normally with a mean of 500 and a standard deviation of 100.

1) A sketchy SAT prep program promises that students can expect to raise their math scores by 100 after just taking a few classes. Given that you had a big enough budget to cover any fees and incentivize 200 subjects to be willing to participate, how would you best design an experiment to learn whether this prep program delivers on its promises?

Explanation / Answer

We should randomly divide the particapants into two groups and ask them to take a test now.

Group 1 is to be given the classes while nothing to group 2.

We then do the test after sometime to compare the results of the two groups.
