2. A researcher is interested in whether caffeine can enhance memory for verbal material, so she randomly assigns participants to either a caffeine group or a placebo group. The caffeine group receives caffeine pills, the placebo group receives a pill that looks and tastes like the caffeine pill but has no caffeine or other active ingredients. 10 minutes after taking the pills, participants hear a list of 30 words read aloud at the rate of 1 word per second, and they are instructed to then write down each word they can recall. As,both group samples are independent from each other i.e. subjects used in caffeine group and placebo group are different,so we will use independent samples t test.

We can measure the average score and standard deviation for each group for performing two samples independent t -test.
