Question
can someone help me solve the follwoing statistics question with explanations please, i really want to know how each part was solved in detail.
II) Suppose that for a set of 1000 measurements having a bell shaped distribution, x = 120 and s = 25. Find the approximate value of the 84th percentile of the data set.
III) An urn contains 20 objects. 7 of the objects are red, 5 are blue and the rest are green. Also the blue objects are square while the rest are round. Suppose an object is drawn from the urn at random.
a) The probability that the object drawn is blue and round is ______________.
b) Suppose that as you are drawing the object, you notice that it is red. Given this new information, the probability that the object drawn is round is ____________.

Explanation / Answer
Please post 1 question per post, as per forum rules:
Since there are 1000 measurements we can say that this bell shaped distribution is a distribution of a sample
Params of normal distribution is as follows:
X= 120
s = 25
We will use the above to normalize our data
The approx 84th percentile of the data set is :
Value for 84th percentile at Z=.95 ,
Value at 84th percentile = X + Z*s = 120+.95*25 = 143.75
