Assume that samples of size n 2 are randomly selected with replacement from this population of four values a. After identifying the 16 different possible samples table, values of the sample mean that are the same have been combined and finding the mean of each sample, construct a table representing the sampling distribution of the sample mean. Explanation / Answer

We have to draw the samples in sizes of 2. Below are the 16 possible sets of sample data alongwith sample mean:

Based on the sample means, we can make the following table on the distribution of sample mean and the probability:

Mean of the population = (38+28+25+19)/4 = 27.5

Mean of the sample means = (38+2x33+2x31.5+2x28.5+28+2x26.5+25+2x23.5+2x22+19)/16 = 27.5

So the mean of the population, 27.5 is equal to the mean of the sample means, 27.5.

I am not sure what options are there in the dropdown for (c), but genrally, the answer should be like the following:

The sample means average equals the population mean. In general, samplemeans always make good estimates of population means because the mean is an unbiased estimator.

You can choose the dropdown options accordingly.
