Feb 06, 2018 1 Lisa Kopteros baka :38 PM0 Like One-Way ANOVA versus Two-Way ANOVA Exactly! A One way Anova and T test both have l independent variable and one dependent variable. The independent Way Anova has 2 independent variables (each with 2+groups) and 1 dependent variable. The dependent variable in all ence variable would have 2 groups (ie gender) for the t test and 2+groups (ie.education level) for a One Way Anova. A Two cases would be interval data. Can anyone provide a nice clear everyday example of a 1 way Anova and then compare it with a 2 way anova? Explanation / Answer

Example of one-way anova: Suppose we want to compare variable "number of times a person fell sick in a year" on the basis of their "food-habit". The levels of independent variable "food-habit" are vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and mix and dependent variable is "number of times a person fell sick in a year". Here we have only one independent variable, "food-habit". So, this is an example of "one way ANOVA.

Example of two-way anova: If in the above example of one-way anova, we add another independent variable, ‘smoking-status’ to the existing independent variable ‘food-habit’, and multiple levels of smoking status such as non-smoker, smokers of one pack a day, and smokers of more than one pack a day, we construct a two-way anova.
