Honestly, the one key takeaway I got from this was the title of the presentation - just use Postgres. The presentation was basically a demonstration of how they are using Postgres to solve most all of their data warehousing needs. It was a bit too technical for me, being new to all of this, so I frankly did not get much more than that. It was clearly geared towards people that are already DB admins and/or are already using alternative systems. As for "Why" to use Postgres, it seems that it can do most everything you need, so it provides consistency, and that seems (in his case) to outweigh any slight reductions in performance/run times. I don't have much else to say this week, as I was not overly impressed with his presentation, so I guess I'll leave it at that and see what others
