Question

Please help with 1-3. It is all the same problem, but i cant remember how to write the equation. Thank you!

Name 23 Date RQA MP4 Use the information below to answer questions #1-3. A Ferris Wheel has a ribbon tied to one of the seats. The diameter of the Ferris wheel is 40 feet. The ribbon is moving counterclockwise and it makes 4 revolutions per minute. Start 1) How long will it take for the ribbon to touch the ground after it leaves the start position? Your answer should include units of measure. Second 2. Write an equation that can be used to predict the height h of the ribbon t minutes after it leaves the start position. 3) Estimate the height of the ribbon 17 minutes after it leaves the start position. Your answer should include appropriate units of measure.

Explanation / Answer

Ans(1):
Given that 4 revolution in 1 minute then that means 4 revolutions in 60 seconds
or 1 revolution in 60/4 seconds = 15 seconds.

from picture we see that ribbon needs to complete 3/4 revolution to touch the ground.
so time taken to touch the ground = (3/4)*15=11.25 seconds.
Hence your answer is correct.
