b) Chip, a male student weighing 135 pounds, drives to the party with the idea of nursing two 12 -ounce beers each hour for five hours. If he starts with no alcohol in his system, what how many grams of alcohol are there in each liter of his body fluids at the end of the five hours?
After the five hours, about how long must he go without drinking alcohol in order to reduce his body fluid alcohol concentration to a legal driving level of under 0.8 (grams/liter) ?

Explanation / Answer

let every hour he takes x glasses of 4 ounce glasses of burgundy

so for 6 hours it would be 6x

assuming body fluid is 40 litres for average weigth of 72 kgs

4 ounce = 113.4 gms

6x*113.4 / 40 = .8

6x = 8*40 / 113.4 = 2.82

so less than 3 4 ounce glass of burgundy you can nurse per hour

4 ounce = 113.4 gms

b) two 12 ounce beers each hour = 12*2 = 24

for 5 hours

24 *5 = 120 ounce = 3401.94 gms

for body weight 135 pounds which is equal to 61 kgs assuming  

body fluid = 36 litres

alcohol in grams / lt = 3401.94 / 36 = 94.50 gms/litre of alcohol is there at the end of 5 hours
